This captivating sci-fi adventure story not only offers an exciting mystery but also gets readers thinking about the moral implications of scientific discovery. Bradley is focused on moving on from high school when his life is abruptly interrupted by something sure to end it. This upset, however, is quickly followed by an amazing discovery, that not only saves him, but changes him forever. Along with an unlikely companion, Bradley discovers something amazing and soon finds himself protecting his discovery from world governments eager to get their hands on it while also trying to unravel the cosmic mystery he’s stumbled upon.
Bradley’s character is very well-written; readers will empathize with him from the start and be relieved that he was the one to discover the Ark. He is smart, curious, and deserves the second chance the Ark gives him. His curiosity drives the story forward and I was eager to figure out the mysteries surrounding the Ark with him. Where is it from and what can it really do? And does Bradley succeed in keeping it out of the hands of global world agencies pursuing him? There is an air of danger that lurks in the dark corridors of the Ark as well, which kept me reading. This book is perfect for anyone who likes adventure, mysteries, or a compelling story. I love that real scientific concepts were included throughout in an approachable way that added a very fascinating element to the story. Sci-fi fans and both young adult and adult readers will enjoy unraveling the mystery of The Cerulean Ark.

Bradley Adamsson's life is turned upside down one day by an upsetting diagnosis, and flipped around again upon the discovery of a strange metal object. Bacon's novel is a whirlwind of sci-fi fun and personal growth as teenagers grapple with access to an immense amount of power. The sci fi action and sweeter moments are balanced so well in this book! I particularly loved the storyline with Evaline and her sister, and found all their interactions to be so full of care and so lovely to read. I loved the story this took me on, and found the descriptions of space to be so beautiful. I also thought that Bacon did a wonderful job writing teenagers with depth and grace, and I found myself relating to them and genuinely worrying for them the whole book. I really enjoyed this book, and think that for sci fi lovers or newbies to the genre alike, this is a wonderful read and I am glad I picked it up.

In The Cerulean Ark, Terry Bacon takes readers on a whirlwind of an adventure. This novel will capture your attention from the first few sentences to the final pages. Terry paints such an interesting adventure for the high school trio, Bradley, Axel, and Evaline, as they solve a dangerous and enthralling mystery that started out as what Axel thought was just a cool discovery in the woods while hunting. Bradley, unsure whether he should even trust Axel, learns a lot about life and embarks on an adventure that could not only change his life forever but give him the chance at life after a fateful diagnosis. Terry Bacon's love and appreciation for poetry comes out in the beautiful way he describes his characters and their adventures. This is a very captivating story that is well worth the read for anyone - if you're interested in your next favorite adventurous thriller, you have definitely found it with The Cerulean Ark!

In The Cerulean Ark, genres overlap to tell the story of a terminally ill teenage boy whose discovery threatens to alter the course of humanity. The author combines the challenges of young adulthood (bullying, longing for connection, nervous excitement about the future, self-esteem) with classic science fiction elements (UFOs, aliens, advanced technology). But then there are layers of international espionage, political rivalries between nations and the potential for World War III, world domination, social unrest, fearmongering, and multiple excuses for bad behavior. There’s a lot to digest, and readers can take or leave as much as they want without sacrificing any part of this highly enjoyable read.
Eighteen-year-old Bradley is a self-described geek whose plans to attend MIT are derailed after he receives a devastating diagnosis. The bleak outlook brightens when Axel, one of the most popular kids in school, asks Bradley to identify an object he found in the woods. The boys then unearth a six-fingered glove and a skull. Their discoveries lead to an alien spaceship that crashed on earth thousands of years ago. Onboard, the boys realize the magnitude of their find. The spaceship has the ability to heal, regenerate, recycle, and, despite its size, leave a negligible carbon footprint—all of the good things environmentally conscious beings hope to achieve and which Bradley is eager to share with the world. But in learning further how the ship works, he inadvertently alerts the rest of the world to its presence. The very human response to this unknown entity makes Bradley realize the advanced technology can also be used to create chaos and total destruction.
As a layperson, I thought the science was easy to understand and plausible when taken to an intergalactic level. I really liked the ship’s character (named Athena). I rooted for her because she represented so many good qualities. Bradley’s personality and quirks were fleshed out well, and I felt for him because the world’s morality rested on his shoulders. Some of the teen speak didn’t read true—more like awkward dialog from the 1950s—but it didn’t detract from the overall quality of Bacon’s work.

A trip into the woods with his friend Axel uncovers a mysterious craft that has the ability to affect the trajectory of their lives in immeasurable ways. When the world finds out about the discovery, Bradley and his friends face the dangerous truth of what could happen if their discovery makes it into the wrong hands—and have to fight for both their lives and for the planet.
This is a great sci-fi adventure with memorable characters that you’ll root for. Even if you’re not typically a fan of sci-fi, I’d recommend giving this one a chance. The science is not too hard to follow and is explained really well, plus the elements of adventure and love provide a little something for everyone. It’s a page-turner that will have you on the edge of your seat till the very end!

Engaging, intriguing, a wild ride...I could go on. What a fun and fantastic tale! Space, extraterrestrial life and technology, all gifted to readers through the eyes of a nerdy high school boy. Even if science fiction isn't your favorite genre, I would heartily encourage you to give this a try. There is a healthy balance between suspense, action, and information. The writing is excellent; detailed without being overbearing, and fast-paced without feeling underdeveloped. The author's skill is apparent from page one, and it carries through the entire novel. I could really see this being turned into a movie, and I would absolutely go and see it. The details are so beautifully described that the hillside, the beautiful cerulean walls, and Athena herself comes to life in the mind's eye. With likable and dynamic characters full of heart of depth, it's easy to root for Bradley and come to appreciate the dynamic between him, Evaline, and Axel. This is a page-turner for sure. The story has a well-researched feel to it, and as such delivers a story that feels believable, making it easy to read and hard to put down.

There’s adventure and there’s sci-fi. There’s intergalactic politics and there’s the threat of the earth being destroyed. There’s a spaceship with its own personality and there’s the hope of finding one’s way through even the worse prognosis. There’s young adult drama and the beauty of human relationships. The Cerulean Ark is a lot of things rolled into one…an entertaining package. For anyone looking to gain entry into the vast world of sci-fi, this book makes for a brilliant starting point. Reader’s will love the author’s lucid prose and the pace of the story will keep them engaged. I found it easy to identify with the characters and was rooting for the protagonist’s success. The author has done a wonderful job of fleshing out the narrative and the characters to make this an engaging read. It is to his credit that he weaves in the struggle of maintaining a fine balance between great power and its (positive as well as negative) implications in a story that does not devolve into a moral tale but remains an entertaining adventure to its very core. This book will keep the reader hooked till the end and is truly unputdownable.

Bradley is an 18-year-old math wiz with an unfortunate health prognosis. Things appear to be terminal. He doesn’t think he has much time left in life when he and a friend stumble upon bizarre forces they have never before seen. They begin to question if they are in a simulation or an alternate universe. Things begin to escalate and Bradley is thrown into an unexpected adventure where he may be able to rewrite his future and gain immortality
Of course, such power as immortality becomes the core of out-of-this-world conflict. In chapters that alternate between Bradley’s journey and government agencies, readers get to experience a story of an ordinary guy whose life gets turned upside down – first due to health issues, and again when faced with the idea of immortality. This story had me at the edge of my seat until the very end, wondering how it would all wrap up.

You know those books you pick up, and after reading the first paragraph can tell that the author is not only a talented storyteller, but also an excellent writer? The Cerulean Ark by Terry Bacon was one of those books for me. The story opens with the main character, Bradely—a whip-smart high school senior bound for MIT in the fall to pursue lofty career goals in technology and science—receiving devastating news. Despite the gravity of the situation, Bradley goes to school and is approached by the coolest guy in the senior class (who also happens to be the boyfriend of Bradley’s crush—beautiful Evaline, who has similar career aspirations to Bradley) to identify a mysterious object he unearthed during a hunting trip. Bradley takes possession of the object and begins investigating, which unleashes a series of events around the world (and beyond). This is such a fun, well-written read, with references to modern pop culture that readers of YA fiction will be sure to enjoy!

The Cerulean Ark is an amazing fictional novel where we meet Bradley, a young nerdy senior high school boy, who has just been told he has an incurable cancer. He has always been an outsider at school and among his peers due to having one leg longer than the other. But now he sees no hope for ever belonging. On this same day, a peer wants to show him an interesting object that looks like a steel spider. Axel tells him he found it in the woods. They then plan a hike to find where Axel had found it. This hike takes them to a place beyond the earth. This leads them to find and drive a spaceship with technology hundreds of years beyond ours on Earth. They are enthralled with it. They travel to the moon, zoom to China, and go to Russia, they come back each day, but soon they are disrupting life as they know it. I will not divulge the ending and all the great details that kept me on the edge of my seat. You must read to find out what they did with this great machine that is also invisible! He was the perfect person to find this Ark. This would also make a great movie, and I look forward to a sequel to this book.

The Cerulean Ark is one of the best fantasy/sci-fi novels I've read in a while. The lead character is extremely relatable, and you can't help but cheer for him from page one. He's ambitious, despite the many setbacks nature and life throw his way. He suffers from a congenital disease that could potentially kill him, but he remains steadfast in his goals for the future.
Without spoiling anything, these are some of the highlights I loved best.
The story revolves around Bradley, an 18 year old high schooler who is looking forward to attending MIT. A nerdy young man, Bradley, doesn't allow his lack of popularity to make him feel inferior to guys like Axel, a suave surfer dude. And it's Axel who sets him off on the journey of a lifetime when he gives young Bradley an odd object he uncovered in the forest. Bradley isn't sure what to make of it, but the device ends up changing his life forever.
There's also a charming bond which develops between Bradley and an old classmate. Both of them play a pivotal role in defending the planet and ensuring the security of the future. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a fast-paced book with fleshed out characters! Very enjoyable.

“The Cerulean Ark” by Terry R. Bacon is an intriguing science fiction book. This novel is filled with mystery and adventure. First thing I want to note is that I love the detail that the author gives. The scenes that Terry R. Bacon writes are filled with detail and description, making it very easy to paint the picture as to what is going on.
The main character (Bradley Adamsson) is a (seemingly) terminally ill teenager. I think that Terry does a great job painting the picture of what life for him in high school looks like. Bradley is asked by another teenage boy (Axel), who is much more popular, to help identify something he found in the woods. The two teenagers are extremely different, and not usually friends but the inquiry from Axel leads the boys to find a spaceship that crashed eons ago.
I am not usually someone that finds sci-fi that enjoyable but I found this to be a very fun and sweet read. I think it was the perfect book to introduce me to the science fiction genre and I definitely would recommend it to others who are just starting out in the genre as well.

The second is that the narrative is so pithy and lively that there is no chance you will be overwhelmed by the scientific terminology and principles. This combination leads to some truly great science fiction that feels smart but avoids talking down to readers. Both combine to weave an incredibly rich tapestry that will keep you engaged and curious.
The main character Bradley Adamsson is the perfect hero to take the journey of this story with. He is a relatable everyman character with the fears we all have about fitting in and finding his place in the universe. This makes him feel very grounded, even as otherworldly events unfold around him, but he also possesses the intelligence to serve as a guide to the readers. These combined qualities make it easy to understand the story through his eyes. The book is an exciting adventure that will fly by in no time because you will not want to put it down.

There were so many layers to this story that I found myself invested from the start. We are introduced to Bradley Adamsson in the context of his terminal diagnosis, and it becomes a defining characteristic and one that hooks the reader to continue with him on his journey.
And what a journey it is! Bradley’s discovery will change the world forever. His plight is central, but there’s also adventure, intrigue, politics, apocalyptic subtext, and compassion – so much empathy and compassion demanded of the reader. It’s a book that holds you in and doesn’t release you until it’s final image – one I want to share with you but will not because I don’t want to ruin the book.
The Cerulean Ark is a true sci-fi adventure and perfect for anyone who wants to immerse themselves in a world far different from their own, but also the same in many fundamental ways. It’s an entertaining and thought-provoking novel.

This book dives into the understanding that “is not just a story” but beyond the depths that lies way beyond the stars and tip toes through the emotions of love and courage with a bit of embarking on the unknown thrilling journey that the author unfolds before us. The author tells a story through the eyes a character with the sad fullness storyline of the characteristic of dying and is thrust through the stages of emotions. The characterization of the character is pushed from the shadows into the glaring spotlight, navigating a treacherous path filled with danger, conspiracy, and betrayal. We see the author dives us into the world that uncover the truth behind these uncertain words that the character has to discover for himself. But by seeking the answers, it may bring the the character face to face with his greatest fears. This story is a rich and unique in depth of quality that systemically and with extraordinary cosmic relic that throws the reader into a tailspin right from the start till the very end. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants the unique experience and understanding with a bit of double-edged sword thrown in.
