Announcing a New Suspense Thriller from Terry R. Bacon: Storm Warning

I am excited to announce the publication of my novel, Storm Warning, which is now available at Amazon.com and other online book retailers.  Storm Warning is the story of a blues saxophone player, Sonny Marshall, who is drawn into the mystery of a 5-year-old girl who vanished seven years ago in Sacramento and may have been seen alive just a month ago in Wyoming.  He is intrigued by her sudden reappearance—if it is truly her—and then is obsessed with finding her.   In his quest, he joins forces with a skeptical, by-the-books Sacramento police detective, Kat Hastings, and the two uncover a deeper, more wide-ranging conspiracy than they could have imagined.  Here’s what reviewers are saying about the book:

Dark, exciting, page-turning thriller

Storm Warning hooked me in and had me invested in the story right from the start.  The book follows the search for Erin, a girl abducted years ago, who may have recently been spotted alive.  The story kicks off with a bang and it’s full of twists and turns and suspenseful moments all the way to the end.

Storm Warning was an easy read with excellent pacing and the author paints a vivid picture of each setting and character without ever getting bogged down and boring or losing the thrilling tension.  The story’s main character is a martial artist and jazz musician who quickly gets sucked into a dangerous quest to discover if kidnapped Erin is still alive, find her captors, and rescue her—if he can find her.  Things get more complicated as he joins up with a beautiful detective named Kat and together they encounter a network of depraved criminals with even darker intentions than they ever imagined.

This book was hard to put down once I picked it up!  Each chapter leaves you dying to know what’s going to happen next, and the plot keeps you guessing the whole way through.  Highly recommended for anyone who enjoys dark and suspenseful mysteries.   —Dani

The Thrills of Suspense

This book builds tension well, which makes later images and scenes more surprising and exciting.  Bacon also does a great job of writing descriptions of physical interactions.  I can perfectly imagine every single second of a fight.  I can also imagine how someone is sitting with the right kind of tone.  Ultimately, this book creates a lot of great foreshadowing and suspense.  I love that I can see where the story is going, but also have no clue how we’re going to get to that point.  Bacon has created a very suspenseful, tense, crime book that is exciting and enthralling to read.  —A. A Sax Player Turned Case Solver Equals Excitement

Storm Warning by Terry R. Bacon is a unique thriller for the ages.  Sonny is a sax player and his friend Fetch saw the missing five-year-old girl, Erin Hightower, taken while she was at the mall.  Sonny has a vital clue, and even though his heart is in the right place, it’s not his case to solve, but he teams up with Kat, who is the lead detective on this case, and they will stop at nothing to solve this case and return Erin to her family.

Fans of Castle and Chuck will appreciate this story.  Storm Warning is the first book in the Sonny Marshall series.  I have no doubt Terry Bacon will have many more exhilarating thrillers for us to read.  This book had everything:  mystery, drama, conflict, twists, turns, and much more that will surely pique our interest.  There were even several chapters where the author brilliantly used imagery to captivate the scene to the point where we tagged along on the journey with Sonny and Kat.

Storm Warning by Terry R. Bacon will take us on a mind-blowing thrill ride that will leave us breathless and wanting more.  The book was well-written and well-edited.  It is an honor to award this book five stars.  —M. Soderholm

Great Thriller!!!

I am a huge fan of thrillers and Storm Warning was no disappointment. It was one of those where you can’t (and don’t even want to) put it down, and that is how you know it is a good one! The main character, Sonny, is very likable to both fellow characters and readers. He is very passionate about injustice, even if it gets him into sticky situations. And the situation he finds himself in Storm Warning is definitely a sticky one.

After one of his friends thinks he sees a girl at a gas station who was kidnapped seven years ago, Sonny is determined to find her, not knowing that she is still alive. Because law enforcement is hesitant about his information, Sonny takes it upon himself to figure out what happened to the missing girl, getting him into both violent and emotional trouble. After many twists and turns in the story line, we do end up finding out what happened to Erin Hightower.

The author has another book coming out in 2024, so I look forward to reading that as well! –K Whitley

Fans of Mystery and Suspense Will Love This Book!

I absolutely love thrillers and mysteries, and Storm Warning is an excellent addition to my list of recommended books! Storm Warning is a fast-paced story about the search for a missing girl. This is a classic page-turner of a book. From one chapter to the next, the author, Terry R. Bacon, keeps you guessing and wanting to know more about what happened to Erin Hightower.

I also love character-driven books, and Bacon delivers with the character of Sonny Marshall, a saxophone player and our narrator. Sonny is a likable character who brings us along on his journey to help his friend, Fetch, find this missing girl. Sonny definitely drives the story forward with his storytelling. I’m really excited to see what else Bacon has in store for us with the next Sonny Marshall mystery. I do not think that you could be disappointed with this book, and I highly recommend Storm Warning for your next mystery read! –K Mazza

If you are interested in learning more about the book and its characters, please visit (www.sonnymarshall.com) as well as my personal author website (www.terryrbacon.com).  In the former, I paint a deeper picture of the main characters and offer a Sonny Marshall mystery story for anyone who subscribes to the site, and in the latter, I talk about how the book originated, and I include a blog posting on how authors create three-dimensional minor characters.  I’ve read many books where the minor characters are cardboard cutouts, but it doesn’t take much to give those characters some distinctive traits and mannerisms.

Storm Warning is available at Amazon.com and other online book retailers.  I would be interested in your thoughts about the story and would be happy to answer any questions.  Meanwhile, here is a video trailer for the book.
